(to the tune - The Camptown Races)
I have got a restless leg. Doo dah, doo dah,
I have got a restless leg. Doo dah, doo dah,
I have got a restless leg. Doo dah, doo dah day.
Turn onto my left, turn onto my right,
Left and right and front and back,
Can't sleep any way.
Chorus
(to the tune - The William Tell Overture)
Ekky bom, ekky bom, ekky bom, bom, bom,
Ekky bom, ekky bom, ekky bom, bom, bom,
Ekky bom, ekky bom, ekky bom, bom, bom,
Ekky bom!
Ekky bom syndrom!
(to the tune - Brahms' Lullaby)
Lullaby, go to sleep,
Close your eyes now, don't peep.
Count the stars up in the sky,
Breathe deeply, don't cry.
Chorus
(To the tune - Morning Has Broken)
Morning is here now,
My leg is sleeping,
Body relaxing, so peaceful and still.
Need to remember for the next evening,
And not forget to - take my 'leg' pill!
Chorus
* Ecky thump!
(to the tune - Brahms' Lullaby)
Lullaby, go to sleep,
Close your eyes now, don't peep.
Count the stars up in the sky,
Breathe deeply, don't cry.
Chorus
(To the tune - Morning Has Broken)
Morning is here now,
My leg is sleeping,
Body relaxing, so peaceful and still.
Need to remember for the next evening,
And not forget to - take my 'leg' pill!
Chorus
* Ecky thump!
Eee bah gum!

Love it!!
ReplyDeleteI'm always making up daft lyrics to melodies, and thank you for a great reminder of the Goodies "Ecky Thump"!
Snap!! I've been suffering all week with twitchy legs, it drives me mad. Love your little ditty :-)

I love a bit of 'Ecky Thump'...this is so like me too to sing insane little melodies! Bless ya and that damn restless leg!
ReplyDeleteHaven't heard someone say ecky thump for a very long time. Restless leg or cramp, either way it keeps me awake. I heard my 11 year old wandering around the house at 6am this morning and thought we had a burglar. I still didn't get up though! xx
ReplyDeleteI've no idea what that is. Hope it doesn't cause you too much bother.
ReplyDeleteHate that twitchy leg syndrome! Love the ditty :)

ReplyDeleteI'm sorry to have to inform you that you are incorrect about the choral version of the William Tell Overture.
The correct version is;
Dad's got a head like a ping pong ball,
Dad's got a head like a ping pong ball,
Dad's got a head like a ping pong ball,
Like a Ping ing inging ing pong ball.
The words were actually written by William Tell himself!
oh that was good, thats a smile maker!!
ReplyDeletefun to read, but I guess not to have!
ReplyDeleteLOL, love the ditty.
ReplyDeleteMe too! I have a restless leg, must remember the little dittys then perhaps I can get some sleep too!
ReplyDeleteHope it isn't too cold for you
