This cot blanket for India was joined a different way - basically 1dc, ch3. It created a loopy, lacy join.
The rectangles were all the ones I hadn't chosen first because they were a mishmash of colours.
I think each corner was joined a different way as I couldn't decided (or remember) which join was best.
The edge was 1dc, 3ch round twice.
(Don't brush the fleck off your screen - it's in the picture.) Onward and upward!

How cute is this!!! Love all the different colors together
ReplyDeleteI'm keeping a note of these ways of joining, I'm sure they'll come in handy when I come to join future blankets. What a great cause all these blankets are going to.
ReplyDeleteMmmm, interesting. I'm in the process of knitting squares for a blankie - although not quite at the stage of joining the squares together. So, would you recommend crocheting over sewing? xx
ReplyDeleteIf you want your squares more decorative - yes. All the squares were different colours so I thought that if I sewed them together my stitches would show - I'm not that neat when sewing. The US sc (UK) dc is the quickest crochet way as you don't have to go round all the sides. I've seen other squares crocheted together with slip stitches but I'm not too keen on that method - it doesn't look right to me. The sc way has raised edges.

Thank you for this. I'm going to look back at your other suggestions and bookmark them. xx
DeleteI like it, it has a abstract art feel to it. Or maybe a paint box. Pretty!
