Bloggy Blanket Chain - Ended

Final edit: The blanket is soon to be completed and I will post a picture as soon as possible. Read the story of the Bloggy Blanket Chain below.

Follow the Bloggy Blanket label to see the idea for a Bloggy Blanket and check back here to view its progress around the Blogosphere.

If you wish to join in, and you are very welcome, all the granny squares for this blanket are done in 5 rounds with double knitting yarn and a size 4mm crochet hook and turn out as 12cm x 12 cm squares. Once you have completed a square or squares, sew them to the blanket and send it on its way to another person who will crochet a square and add it on. The suggestions for making and for finishing the blanket are at the bottom of the page. Contributers are asked to showcase the blanket in progress on their own blog and 'touch base' here with a comment and a link to their blog so that we can see their creations and track the making of the Bloggy blanket.

Here is square number 1 crocheted with my own fair hands.

I've deviated from my normal choice of colours and chosen pastels. It is an original granny but I thought I'd like to try to depict Spring showing a pink spring flower with a yellow centre surrounded by green leaves and a blue sky. That was the 'creative thought' behind it! Now it will start its journey and go to Mrs. Tightwad (hopefully) who will attach a new granny square and send it on its way. Good luck on your journey my pink flower! Stay tuned for its progress through the Blogosphere. Ain't technology wonderful.

This is what you do!

1. Crochet a granny square or squares with 5 rounds using DK and a 4mm crochet hook.
2. Attach it/them to the other squares.
3. Write a post about it on your blog and ask for someone to continue the blanket.
4. Send it off to another blogger volunteer.
5. Write a comment on this blog (adding the next Bloggy Blanket volunteer) and I will add the information to this Bloggy Blanket Page.

Repeat the process until the blanket has 120 squares (10 x12) or is big enough (use your own judgement).

Then

1. The next blogger does one round of edging.
2. Sends it off to another blogger.
3. Writes posts about it on their blog, linking to the next blog.
4. Writes a comment on my blog and I will add their link to the Bloggy Blanket Page.
Until 5 rounds of edging have been done.

Then

1. The final blogger does a final edge of his or her own choice.
2. They find a suitable person or cause and donate the blanket. There are many links on the web which list worthy causes.
3. They write posts about it on their blog.
4. They write a comment on my blog and I will add their link to the Bloggy Blanket Page with a congratulations for a completed Bloggy Blanket and 'undetailed' details of the recipient or charity.

Thank you for taking part.

7/4/12 - Mrs. Tightwad has completed her squares and is ready to post to the next blogger. Who will be next?

14/7/12 - A second blanket started after some confusion over the different blankets. Fingers crossed that this one will travel the Blogosphere. Here's the first square. This time it's all one colour. DD's favourite.

Who would like to receive the square, add to it and then pass it on to a fellow granny manic blogger?

14/7/12 I'm sending the first square to Kate at GTMTC and it will then pass on to Arwedd at Stepping Out in Faith.

21/7/12 Kate (see her post here) has completed 2 beautiful squares - one done in Tunisian crochet - and is now sending the blanket off to Arwedd. Thanks Kate. Arwedd, over to you.

22/7/12 Arwedd when you have completed your square/squares there are 2 people waiting to join the chain.

30/7/12 Arwedd's beautiful square has been added

and the blanket will now travel to Amanda. View Arwedd's post here. If you wish to take part please leave a comment and I'll add your name to the list. Amanda, once you've added your square please will you post the blanket to Mummy Hen.

12/8/12 Amanda has excelled herself with these original squares for our blanket. Check out her post here.

Mummy Hen get ready to receive! We now need more volunteers to add to this blanket of love. Please leave a comment if you wish to add some squares.

16/8/12 The BB is on its way again, this time to MummyHen. Amanda thank you for a wonderful job. I can see a pattern emerging. Here it is ready to go. Amanda has suggested having a BB Button. I'll have to have a go at one. Meanwhile we are still looking for the next recipient.

28/8/12 The BB has arrived at MummyHen's along with some little treasures. I'm loving all those patterned squares set between the plain ones. Even if you only know how to do a basic square you can join in with this 'international' project! It looks a bit like a puzzle piece at the moment, doesn't it?

6/11/12 MummyHen has added a few more squares to the blanket. Doesn't it look good.

Who's going to be the next to add to this colourful creation?

13/1/13 It's going to be Julia from Peacock Blue. Many thanks Julia. Please contact MummyHen to arrange the sending of the blanket. I shall look forward to seeing this blanket grow.

If you are interested in keeping this blanket moving through the Blogosphere then please get in touch.

20/1/13 The blanket is now on its way to JuliaB at Peacock Blue.

Doesn't it look great.

6/3/13 JuliaB has been busy and added 5 squares to the blanket. Look, see.

And read her post here. Thank you so much Julia. Now who's next to add some more lovely colour to this blanket?

Joy from Daisy Row has volunteered to add some squares. Many thanks to you.

9/7/13 Peg would like to be the next link in the chain. Thank you so much Peg. Please will you contact JoyKnit to give her your details so she can post the blanket on to you. Keep us informed of your progress please.

17/7/13 Joy has passed the blanket on to Peg. Thank you Joy for your contribution.

The blanket grows!
xx

8/8/13 Peg from Blondie UK's Stitching room has been in touch and has showcased her 8 bloggy squares on her post today

It must now measure 84cm square so it's getting quite big.

Thank you so much Peg. You're wonderful, and kind, and caring, and skilful, and creative, and ..... I really like the greeny pink lacy square you've made. How pretty!

Looking good.

28/8 /13 Peg has just left a comment and the blanket is now being passed to Fran.

Just to let everyone know the bloggy blanket is now on its way to Fran for her to add her magic touch. It's been a pleasure to be a part of this, thank you Mum. Peg xx

Thank you, Fran for helpeng us with this blanket. And here are her squares which will be added to the corners.

23/01/14 - The blanket will now wend its way back to Peg who will finish around the edge and then donate it to a worthy cause.

A very big Thank You to all who have played a part in creating this blanket. I will post the finished blanket as soon as possible.

xx

  10. Me again. I left a message with the lady you told me to contact, but I've heard nothing from her. Maybe she's going to wait until she's ready to send it before she asks me for my address? Anyhow, just thought I'd let you know.
