2012 Blanket number 2 is finished. This one is 10x10 of 4 round grannies joined with UK doubles (US singles) and edged with UK trebles with a Bunnymummy border.
It now joins the other Christmas present blanket - one for the pink girl and one for the red girl.
Should I do mine next or a Christmas blanket - decisions, decisions!
Wow, they are both beautiful. I'd be so made up if someone made a blanket like this for me for Christmas! Em ♥
ReplyDeleteThat is beautiful, I love the colours. I think it is your turn now, loads of time til Christmas!! Xxx
ReplyDeleteThese are REALLY pretty. I am a newbie hooker, so very grateful that you have explained how you joined and edged them.
ReplyDeleteBut [forgive me if you said this in an earlier post and I missed it!] please tell me what weight of wool you use [is it DK?] and what size hook.
Your earlier explanations of hooking the various 2012 blankets have been SO clear and easy to follow. You ought to publish a Crochet Handbook
Blessings xx
Angela, I used Stylecraft DK from here

Whooo, lovely. Long way to go moi. But inspiration aplenty.
ReplyDeleteFantastic throws and beautiful colours.
ReplyDeleteFantastic. What gorgeous blankets. I'd do the Christmas one first and then you know it's done in good time for the actual event.
ReplyDeleteOh i would be so happy to be either red girl or pink girl when Christmas comes!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful blankets. Methinks it's time for some hooky for you now.
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Sharon
Oh, those are just too beautiful! You did a good job picking out the cheery colors :)
ReplyDeleteLovely blankets made from the heart, what more could anyone want.
ReplyDeleteIt's beautiful. Personally I prefer the red one but both are wonderful, wonderful gifts to treasure. The best part of finishing one project is the contemplation of the next, I am sure what ever you decide on will be lovely.
ReplyDeleteReally pretty. I've love that simultaneous feeling of achievement and anticipation at the end of each project. Jx
ReplyDeleteI like the red one best! Plus you definitely need to make one for yourself next!
ReplyDeleteHaving just learnt to crochet using your instructions,(Thank you) and made a multi coloured lap blanket out of numerous wool oddments, my daughter has asked for a blanket for Christmas.
However she is asking for specific colours, so I wondered......... do you know how many gms of DK wool it takes to make a 10 x 10 size blanket like yours?
I can take a reasonable guess at individual colour quantities if I know the approximate total amount required. Can you help, please? I'd be so grateful.
The blanket weighs 605 grams and I used 17 different colours but you would need more of the edging colour. You could use as many colours as you wish just divide the total by the number of colours to get your weight of wool. I've still got some fairly large balls of 100g wool left after 2 blankets. If I run out of wool on my third blanket I'll just add another colour. Hope this helps. Happy hooking.

Thanks, that helps a lot!....My daughter wants three colours only ( red, black & purple) so knowing the weight of the blanket, and how much of each colour she wants in the squares, I can take an educated guess as to how much of each to buy. I am only buying new wool because it's a Christmas present, normally I raid the charity shops and beg on Freecycle. I've collected a whole plastic storage box of wool, but of course not the colours she wants!
