Not my cup of tea

Not everyone's cup of tea! I started reading this because I enjoyed his other books. I most certainly didn't enjoy this one. Read a bit, thought I'd leave it, read a bit more. I find that I have to complete a book even if I don't like it to start off with. It did get better, or rather it suddenly became a book that I had to keep reading. This wasn't until the very end.

I won't read any more of his. I've learnt my lesson now. At the moment I have 2 other books on the go - one a 'fluffy' one which I should really drop and the other is a book that I really want to get my teeth into. I shall quickly read the former so I can concentrate on the latter.

  1. I used to love Ben Elton when he did stand up, it was exactly my sort of humour, but I've never read any of his books.

  2. I never actually like Ben Elton.I see his name and hear his voice "little bit of politics, little bit of politics".

  3. I have never noticed any books by Ben Elton at the library or even in book shops. Maybe he's not a big seller down here. At least on your recommendation I'll give this a miss if I do happen to see it.

  4. I used to like Ben Elton too but no longer. I don't continue reading books any more that don't immediately "grab" me within the first few chapters - I think of my time as precious and it would be more beneficial reading a great book instead of a mediocre one! :-)
