Unbelievable

It's a non-fiction book but is highly readable as it is written as a kind of story.

'A gripping account of a city's search for identity under the unexpected burden of freedom' is one review.

The book was gripping from the beginning, an intriguing look into the lives of people who lived behind the Berlin Wall.

Oh what a tangled web we weave when first we practise to deceive.

PS Jeanne, I left you a reply to your comment on allotments.

  4. I got Stasiland from my local library here in NZ. VERY interesting read - it taught me a lot & my husband (who is Dutch) learnt a lot also. We went to East Berlin last year on holiday and I absolutely HATED that city - the atmosphere was not good at all and I couldn't wait to leave. What made it worse for me was that there was all this wall & border stuff that they seemed to be proud of! Couldn't work it out. West Germany was better for me, and I would happily go back there.
