Finally finished. Padding a little too thick, stitching a little too wonky, binding not wide enough and too thick so I had a bit of a wrestling bout sewing it into place - but made from scrap materials (except wadding). It will certainly protect the table from hot dishes ...
... and provide a suitable resting place for puss cats!
