The trimmings are down, slowly, slowly, bit by bit and the last to be put away is the tree. First of all the baubles and tinsel are taken off and finally the lights. Once the tree is completely bare (and thanked for being so wonderful over Christmas) and back to a tree again, it is then recycled into the council compost bin.
The branches are trimmed and the needles hoovered up. Back to simplicity now.
xx
PS I did find some bargain garlands and baubles at the CS and JS so they've been put away for next year.
Ours come down today too...I'm itching to get a good clean done.

Un-treeing is my plan for the weekend too. I'm glad you posted this Mum. I never thought to cut off the branches. Granted, this year we are using a fake tree. But I will use this idea in the future. I would be a great way to make fire kindling. I know you shouldn't burn pine logs but kindling is a good thing!
ReplyDeleteIt is a shame to see it go isn't it Mum?....all for a brief moment there is magic in our lives. I love to see the bright sparkle of the light reflecting off the tinsel and baubles. It also brings a spot of exaggerated colour into my house for awhile.
ReplyDeletekeep well
Amanda :-)
For the first time ever I am really reluctant to take ours down :( guess I shall have to tomorrow. x
ReplyDeleteAnd then I notice decorating of the paint type is due...
ReplyDeleteChristmas has well and truly gone here. I bought some hyacinths yesterday so spring can`t be far away ( ever hopeful!).
ReplyDeleteGoing to enjoy one last day of cheer and then that will be my job for the day tomorrow.
ReplyDeleteI feel all bereft without my tree! It's down now for the first time ever before the 6th. Sigh.
ReplyDeleteTony and you share the same technique only we pushed our tree out through our french doors and then the mess was outside!
