Should I?

I've been using up my small scraps of wool to crochet ...

… a basket weave blanket (a neat idea from a blog I came across. This isn't the one but has the same idea). Use a large crochet hook and 3 balls of DK and work a basket weave stitch, adding in different colours when each ball runs out. My hook was a 9mm.

Now should I use up all these balls of wool which may come in handy for smaller projects? While I decide I'll just carry on with this blanket. :)

  1. I would it looks lovely but perhaps keep one small ball of each primary colour back icluding a black and white for when you just need that little bit, I crocheted a couple of big giant granny square throws with mine just to clear some of the odds and ends up :-)

  3. What a great way to use up all those small leftover bits. If I could crochet, I would try it myself as the finished result looks great.

  4. Ooo, that looks interesting will have to take a look at that. Funnily enough I discovered finger knitting last night, I'd never heard of this before (maybe I've been in a dark closet ) lol but did quite a bit last night. Not sure what I could use it for but I like to have a go at most things.
    Have a good weekend

  5. I like to keep odd balls of yarn hanging around in case I need them but I think a blanket would be lovely. I like the stitch.

  8. I am tryng SOOOOOO hard to learn how to crochet! I do love my knitting, but I'm quite slow at it and I love how fast things emerge from when I see folk crochet! So far I've copied off you tube with dumbly fingers, but I'm not*there* yet!!That basket weave looks like A Level crochet to me!! X

  9. It looks lovely. I would keep using them up, and pop in charity shops for some more interesting odd balls of wool.
