It's time to let go

The time came for DD to let go. Room in the cupboard room was needed and although they were much loved, they had not been played with for many years.

There they sat on the landing awaiting their fate.

Some were taken to help raise money for one charity, some were packed off to the CS in the hopes they would be found loving homes

Some sneaked their way into other rooms and cupboards, not ready for the 'let go' yet. (I pinched them!)

DD kept the first and much loved. He/she is still watching over her.

Have you 'let go' of your first ted?

I've not let go of my first teddy yet. He's
very old now and has lost most of his fur.
His squeaker has given up but I've not
given up on him.

  1. That must have been quite a stressful experience!
Not sure if I could let go of any of mine. I know that is selfish but they hold so many memories.

    Keep well

  2. My first teddy got destroyed in a flood a few years ago, I was so upset. I still think of teddies as having feelings x

  3. Big Ted lives at my parents' house. He used to growl but now just gives a wheezy sort of cough. I'm trying to cut down on the fluff mountain here too, although they are handy for padding the top of the moving boxes!

  4. hee hee what a cute post!
I'm not much of a teddy fan actually.. but I had a beautiful one called Godfrey that my mother made in the 50s. I admired him up high on a shelf throughout my teenage years. When I reached up to get him down off the shelf to pack for my first flatting experience, I was gutted when he fell to bits, having been gobbled up by moths inside and out! Sob. there'll never be another bear like Godfrey! That's my teddy story!

  5. I've still got my first teddy. He's very threadbare and no longer growls but I wouldn't part with him for the world!

  6. When my parents divorced I lost all my old toys and books. When I rehomed a hairy little stray we called him Teddybear. Very cuddly, bit hairy, a little growl and occasionally an odd smell!

  7. I don't remember a teddy but I do remember my doll, Anna Louise. When she finally fell completely apart I felt as if I had lost my best friend.

  8. I was never a doll person..teddies all the way for me. My first teddy is white and called Snowy ..the first teddy I chose myself (shopping from my pushchair) is called Pinky..yes he's pink..the other choice was blue and I didn't like him apparently! (Pinky is my bestest favourite but don't tell Snowy).

  10. It's very hard to let go of childhood things. I still have my teddy. She is dirty, but she's mine and she sits on a little stool in my bedroom.

  14. What is it about teddies that we get so attached to them? I've still got my first teddy, in fact, I've got my first two, Pinky, yes, a pink one, and Growly, he used to growl but now give a little groan.

  15. I never had a cuddly toy I was attached to but both my sons did and I have kept them.I was worried their other halves wouldnt want them to keep them and may throw them away, but each one has lots of lovely, happy memories for me.

  16. I still have my favourite doll, a baby beans. He is very much the worse for wear as I ripped his hat off years ago and I put him in a Barcelona football kit in 1984, replacing his denim overalls. He lives in my bedside drawer.
