Times

I seem to have some sort of structure to my day which vaguely works out at

get the chores done in the morning and

play in the afternoon.

The day also seems to be punctuated with 'times'.

12.00
Dinner time - even thought it's not strictly a dinner, more of a light lunch, it is always eaten if possible at midday. Always was when I was a little girl (then it was a proper dinner) and always is even now!

5.00 pm
Tea-time - even though it is not a snack or sandwiches, more of a dinner, it is always eaten if possible at 5 o'clock in the afternoon. Always was when I was a little girl (then it was a snack) and always is even now!

6.00 pm
Bath time - taken to wash the day away and change into lounging around clothes. This was the time that we bathed the children when they were little and this is the time when we bathe ourselves now ready for a relaxing evening.

9.00 pm
Down time (go downstairs to watch TV in the lounge) - in between bath time and down time we 'do our own thing' following our interests and hobbies either together or in separate rooms - crafting, music making, computering, reading or playing.

No other times appear to be as 'set' as these. We don't now have to have an 'Up time' as we are retired. We don't really have a 'Bed time'. We just go to bed when we are tired.

I wonder if anyone else has set times for doing things.

Oh, I forgot ...

Any time after 3.00 pm -
Sherry time - not always taken but a little relax in the afternoon just sitting, contemplating and being happy!   :) It started with celebrations at Christmas and has just carried on since. (I won't tell you which Christmas!)

xx

  1. 12 Noon is dinner time (a light lunch), 6pm, when Mick gets home from work, is tea time (cooked dinner). With four of us in the house, bath time usually goes on all evening with one or the other of us in there. Bed time for me is usually any time between 9pm and 10.30pm.

  2. We are retired too, but my OH is still an early bird, so he brings tea up at 6am and we get up at 6.30. Midday is beer time for him (and sometimes, but not always, for me), we have (light) lunch at 1pm, at 5pm I have a glass of wine while I cook and another with tea, he has a beer or two, we have tea (main meal) at 6pm. We pretty much always go to bed about 9.30. In between, anything goes really, sometimes we do stuff together and other times we each do our own thing. We often wonder how we ever had time to work!

  4. We dont have set times for things, just whenever everything can be fit in during the day. I love the idea of sherry time though, but I cant remember the last time I had a drink!

  5. The only two things that have to be a set time for us are our cat's insulin jabs at 7am and 7pm..other than that we have to fit around hubby's work schedule.

  13. I think it's fun to hear you all call "dinner" -"tea". For me, an American, tea time is something we have in the afternoon, sort of a little break :o) We are not retired, so husband works and is out the door by 6am and we have two kids still at home, which I homeschool. We have a pretty structured day during the week, but much more relaxed on the weekends. Breakfast at 8, lunch at noon, snack or "tea" mid-afternoon, dinner at 7. If I didn't keep fairly scheduled during the week, I wouldn't get a thing accomplished!

  15. You are so organised. I sort of have a routine. I think I will incorporate the sherry time into my day, or maybe a beer, or a wine...........

  16. I am more of a do things on impulse sort of person. I mainly eat when my stomach tells me to, and go to bed when I'm tired.
