Theory in action

My theory is this.

If I pick the runner beans everyday when they're small (and eat them) then I won't end up with a glut of very large pods and I won't end up with a freezer full of beans which are still there when the next year's beans are ready. Pretty smart eh?

Except one got away...

... and the theory didn't hold with courgettes.

Hmm! Back to the drawing board.

  1. LOL for courgettes!

But a great idea for runner beans.

  2. I have to get to my beans before the bloody snails do - they abseil up and down the bamboo poles.

  3. I think my snails must be a bit dim. They haven't worked that one out yet.

  4. I`m doing the same as you with this year`s runner beans as there are still two packs of 2010 beans in the freezer! They are so much nicer when they are fresh, small and sweet. I also love them chopped up and raw in salads.

  5. What a lovely crop of beans. Corgettes grow before your very eyes don't they. Such a versatile vegetable to use too.
