Done and Dusted Ditty

Chorus

When a favour's called upon me,
When a favour's called upon me,
When a favour's called upon me,
When a favour's called upon me I'll be there.

Verse

When friends of Darling Son are wed and baby's on the scene,
And the time has come to take a present there.
When said friends admired the blanket made for DG number 1
Then another of the same we'd like to share.

This is my first Tunisian crochet blanket made for DG
(darling grand-daughter).

Here is the one for DS and DD-in-Law's friends.

Chorus

When a favour's called upon me,
When a favour's called upon me,
When a favour's called upon me,
When a favour's called upon me I'll be there.

  1. Love those blankets - and the little ditty too. My Dad had a version of that song which went 'when the beer is on the table I'll be there' - yet he was a lifelong teetotaller!! Someone avtually chose the original hymn for our songs of praise at church 2 weeks ago!

  6. That's a super blanket-so bright and beautifully made. I love your little ditty but now the original is stuck in my head! ( from about 60 years ago) i went to a friend's funeral just before Christmas and this was one of the hymns her husband had chosen. Catriona

  8. beautiful work, Mum. What size Tunisian crochet needle and wool did you use? I've been wanting to try this type of crochet and you have me inspired. I hope you're having a Happy Easter, Michelle in Wellington, NZ

    1. Hi Michelle, my needle was just an ordinary 4.5mm crochet hook as I only put on 10 stitches so it's easily long enough. I changed colour after 8 rows. I crochet long strips either changing colour as above or my other blanket is one colour one strip. (Have to count the rows here though.) It's quite relaxing and not bulky to carry around as I only work a strip at a time. Go for it!

    2. Hi again, my wool was double knit and I just used yarn from my stash. A multi coloured blanket uses up those small balls.
